Job Description

LightFeather is seeking a motivated and experienced Agile Coach to join our team in Washington, DC. You will be responsible for facilitating agile processes, ensuring that the development team follows the Scrum framework, and collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve project goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, a strong ability to lead and coach teams, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a coach for one or more Agile teams, ensuring the Scrum process is followed and facilitating all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective).
  • Work closely with Product Owners and Development Teams to ensure clear communication of product backlog priorities and user stories.
  • Coach team members on Agile principles, ensuring continuous improvement in both the team’s performance and the product’s quality.
  • Remove obstacles or impediments that may hinder the team’s progress and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain and monitor the team's progress using Agile metrics (velocity, burndown charts, etc.) and provide reports to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the team adheres to Agile best practices and proactively identify areas for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time and within scope.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, including facilitating retrospectives and applying feedback to enhance team processes and performance.
  • Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog and ensuring that user stories are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Agile leadership role.
  • Experience working in a federal government environment, with a preference for prior work with the Department of State or similar agencies.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum, Kanban, and Lean practices.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remove roadblocks that may impede the team’s success.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must be local to the DC Metro area, and open to a hybrid setup.

Preferred:

  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or other Agile project management tools.
  • Experience in software development, particularly in a government or defense contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow, Azure, or similar platforms.
