Salary Grade: Criteria in the collective bargaining agreement determine the position rank of teaching faculty. The salary range based on the established rank is between $45,587 - $51,588 for 10-month teaching positions and $56,984 - $64,485 for 12-month teaching positions . Ranking is determined by educational level and specific relevant experience .

General Summary: The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum. To meet these responsibilities, faculty must remain knowledgeable about advances in their disciplines, in learning theory, and in pedagogy. Faculty portfolios will include contributions and program development and show evidence of ongoing professional development. The Fellows program has the additional responsibility of engaging in a range of activities aimed at promoting college programs and initiatives, while also supporting the academic and personal success of students from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements:

Master's degree or, in the alternative, at least eighteen (18) graduate credits in Ethnic Studies, Diversity Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Education, or a related field. Fellows in Ethnic and Diversity Studies (ETH) are also expected to possess a combination of academic expertise, teaching experience, and demonstrated community outreach

Duties:

The Dr. Ralph Proctor, Jr. Fellowship in Ethnic and Diversity Studies position will be responsible for performing all of the duties required by, and subject to the same terms and conditions of employment applicable to, full-time teaching faculty covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the College and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), as then in effect. This position will also be provided with up to six (6) credits of release time in each Fall and Spring academic term, and up to ten (10) credits of non-teaching overages in each Summer academic term, to perform duties that support and promote college programs and initiatives.

Teaching Duties

1. Teach Ethnic and Diversity Studies courses, as assigned, ensuring high-quality instruction and adherence to curriculum standards. Maintain weekly office hours as dictated in the CBA.

2. Prepare and provide students with course outlines that support learning objectives set forth in the course syllabus. Develop and measure learning outcomes. Assess student performance and maintain grade records.

3. Create an effective learning environment through the use of a variety of instructional methods.

4. Collaborate in the development and continued assessment of learning outcomes for use in program reviews and curriculum revision.

5. Work with other program and/or discipline faculty to complete scheduled program reviews and to use the findings to revise the curriculum.

6. Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods.

7. Participate in department/discipline, division, campus, and college meetings and committees.

8. Participate in college projects, surveys, studies, and reports that relate to the discipline or program.

9. Collaborate in the development of program and/or discipline promotional materials.

10. Maintain office hours in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

11. Support the college's goals.

12. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Non-Teaching Duties

1. Provide oversight and leadership for the HBCU Transfer Equity Initiative,. Assist with increasing articulation and partnership agreement options with other four-year institutions.

2. Serve as the ETH Discipline Coordinator.

3. Initiate and lead the Ethnic and Diversity Studies program review, conducting assessments and implementing improvements as necessary to enhance program effectiveness.

4. Participate in assessment activities related to the certificate program in Ethnic and Diversity Studies, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and program goals.

5. Engage in strategic community outreach efforts to promote the program.

6. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to job duties, ensuring compliance with College policies and procedures.

7. Participate in College projects, surveys, studies, and reports that relate to the discipline, the program and/or activities that promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

8. Participate in the required professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods.

9. Support the College's mission and goals.

10. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
