Job Description
Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to join its team in Phoenix, AZ for our toxicology department. This position will focus on the pre-analytical preparation and support of patient sample testing. The Laboratory Assistant will primarily retrieve, aliquot, and route samples for confirmation testing, monitor email requests, and ensure the department is clean and stocked.
Please note - this is a lab support role, and doesn't involve hands on wet lab work. Entry level - only High School Diploma required!
The schedule for this position will be: 2nd Shift, Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm ( _Some Overtime may required based on business needs)_

**Job Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Locate, retrieve, aliquot and track movement of samples (primarily urine) for initial testing and confirmation testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around time.
+ Prepare all paperwork, racks, and controls for the Hamilton process; use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in all documentation.
+ Verify name(s), identifier(s), and container location/movement; apply labels appropriately.
+ Recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately; identify and flag problem samples.
+ Sort and forward all accessioned samples requested for confirmation and repeat testing; tracking all movement through the database.
+ Maintain a clean, well-stocked, organized area.
+ Maintain clean glassware.
+ Maintain accurate records and documentation for all laboratory tests and equipment including, but not limited to, reagent logs, temperature logs, disinfection logs and assay SOPs.
+ Support the preparation of laboratory reagents according to established department standard operating procedures and established time frames, as needed.
+ Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, including safety and quality standards.
+ Promote a positive work environment and team participation.
+ Participate in the instruction and training of others; demonstrate and/or explain the testing process to trainees.
**Requirements:**
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
+ Comfortability with handling biological specimens
+ Ability to accurately identify specimens
+ Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
+ High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
+ Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
+ Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
+ Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
+ Must pass a standardized color blindness test
+ Flexibility to work overtime as needed
